This was one of the rare big aurora nights in Wellington. From the rocks at Taputeranga, the light flew in from the universe and danced above the sea. A long exposure smooths the waves so the coastline stays calm while the sky shifts in pink and green bands. I stood between two tides: the water moving at my feet and a slower, silent tide of light passing overhead. The scene felt quiet, yet every part of it carried motion.
